Made from these words on this page, each with its stems. Move a level, or press M or S, to hear a part on its own.

How it works

  1. Start from the words in the box. "a wide, hopeful overworld exploration theme with soft strings, fingerpicked acoustic guitar and light woodwinds". Change any of them, or pick an idea under the box.
  2. Pick the shape. Seamless loop is on, for music that repeats without a click. Pick a tempo, a key and a length, or leave them on Auto.
  3. Get your track with its stems. Play it, download the mix or the stems, or open it in Studio to change the parts.

Music for long stretches

Exploration music is what plays while nothing in particular is happening, and that's most of the game. Players hear it for minutes at a time while they walk, climb and look around, so it has to be easy company.

  • Use the full length. Two minutes wraps far less often than thirty seconds, and a long loop with a few quiet passages is hard to catch repeating.
  • Leave space. Ask for a slow melody with rests, soft attacks and a pad underneath. Busy music makes a quiet world feel crowded.
  • Say the place and the light. "A misty marsh at dawn" gets further than "calm exploration".

Day, night and danger from one track

Every track comes as five stems (drums, bass, guitar, keys and other). In an open world that means one area theme can follow the player's day.

  • Day: the full mix.
  • Night: keys and other only, quieter.
  • Enemies nearby: bring in the bass and drums, then drop them when the player gets away.

The stems line up exactly and add up to the mix, so fading them in and out never pulls the music out of time. The loop generator has more on stacking loops.

Mark the discoveries

Finding a ruin or reaching a summit deserves a moment. Make a short discovery sting with Seamless loop off, in the same key as the area theme, and play it over a dip in the loop. Keep these rare: if every chest gets one, none of them land.

Questions

Should each region have its own exploration theme?

Usually, yes. Keep the tempo close across regions and change the instruments and the mood, so crossing a border is something the player hears without the soundtrack feeling like a different game.

How quiet should exploration music be?

Quieter than you expect. Footsteps, wind and wildlife do a lot of the work in an open world; mix the music under them and let it rise when the view opens up.

How do I keep exploration music from feeling like it's on repeat?

Use the full two minutes, ask for a slow melody with rests in it, and let some passages drop to a pad. A long loop with quiet stretches wraps without anyone noticing.

Can I use the music in a commercial game or video?

Yes. Every song is royalty-free on every plan, Free included: use it in commercial games, videos, streams, podcasts and apps.

Can I use it in Claude or ChatGPT?

Yes. Add https://gen.daydream.live/mcp as a custom connector in Claude, or as a custom MCP server in ChatGPT, or add the Daydream app from ChatGPT's directory, and sign in with your Daydream account. Then describe a song in the chat: it plays there with its stems in their own lanes, and if you ask for new drums it makes that part again with the other four as they are. It spends the same credits as this page, 5 a song. How to add it.
